...box : less is more

Initial box concept development on celeron hp tc1100 (usd500 rrp).

Market recognizes netbook/tablet sector, early low cost MIDs appear, box now conceived on Arm11 SmartQ5 (usd100 rrp).

With computer hardware now a mass consumer product, potential returns are limited.

The box concept envisions minimal core revenue from hardware.

  • box : basic : handheld touchscreen, audio in/out, wifi, bluetooth, usb.
  • box : mini : palmtop touchscreen, audio in/out, wifi, bluetooth, usb, edge/gprs
  • box : extra : a4 touchscreen, audio in/out, wifi, bluetooth, usb
  • box : home : a3 touchscreen, audio in/out, wifi, bluetooth, usb

These four concept variations address specific functional requirements, from portability to home media.

The basic version is the first and most crucial.

Basic boxes are sold either as is, or bundled with a service plan to bring users to the platform.

Basic boxes are as close to indestructible as feasible, classeally able to be run over by a truck.

Low power consumption and charging requirement mean recharging is easily achieved via alternative energy sources.

The lack of moving parts reduces hardware malfunctions and increases environmental operating scope (desert, plains).
